“Everything we do is an act of poetry or a painting if we do it with mindfulness”

Zen Master Thich Nhat Hahn

Imagine a space where you can take time out for yourself to explore and experiment with mindfulness in the supportive environment of other women. A space to relax, breathe deeply, let go and be guided into your natural creative flow of wellbeing.

Retreat outline

During this retreat you’ll learn how women respond differently to stress and you’ll enhance your understanding of mind states that cause stress and anxiety.
Through mindfulness practices and expressive exercises, you’ll experiment with new ways of responding differently and more creatively, finding ways to increase your capacity to be in your natural creative flow of well-being.
This retreat is open to all levels of experience and is not about ‘artistic’ skill. All that is required is an open, curious mind and a willingness to experiment. Bring a notebook and pen – all other materials will be provided.

This retreat is for you if you are:

  • new to mindfulness practice or are looking to sustain and reconnect with your practice in a new way
  • interested in exploring your own spontaneous creative response
  • feeling stuck creatively and would like the chance to experiment and play
  • in need of rest, rejuvenation and renewal
  • looking for tools and resources to sustain you in your everyday life
  • looking to deepen your experience in a relaxed, supportive environment with other women
  • a coach, therapist or other professional looking for new ways to explore your mindfulness in your work with women

During this retreat you will:

  • explore your experience and insights with mindfulness
  • use verbal and non-verbal expressive practices that may include journaling, simple play and image making
  • become more present in your body, connecting and dropping in with meditation, yoga and free movement
  • work with a partner to explore softening your body through mindful touch in respectful and nourishing ways, like gentle foot, shoulder, or head massages
  • explore ways to relate and communicate from a deeper place within
  • have the valuable opportunity to explore and deepen your understanding, and gain personal insights into the effectiveness of mindfulness, through periods of practicing in silence in a supportive and holding retreat environment.
  • learn how to bring mindfulness to everyday activities
  • have free time each day to relax, reflect and rejuvenate
  • enjoy delicious home-cooked vegetarian food
  • gain opportunities to reconnect with nature and to benefit from the very special location of Grade 1-listed Sharpham House and Estate, set within a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty

Creatively Nourishing                          Day Retreats for Women

At a beautiful outdoor venue in South Devon

Now booking for 26 July & 20 September 2015

You can book to come to any or all of the days. Each retreat has just 13 spaces so book early!

A Temple of Being Day Retreat is a precious opportunity for you to dive deep into being fully embodied and present to the beauty in each unfolding moment.

So come, take a walk with me through fragrant meadows. Be nourished by the moist air caressing your skin, moved by the shimmering leaves on majestic trees. Drink in the lush colours as you lean into the stillness of ancient stone.

Come, dance with me on the soft earth as we explore inner and outer landscapes to discover the art of being present to the sacred tremor of life in every moment.

We will dive deep into the silent stillness that cradles all creation to receive the beauty in every sound, in every pulse of movement and every sensation.

Come, take a walk with me to discover the Temple of your Being.

How the Retreat Works

The Temple of Being Day Retreat is designed to nourish your soul and spark your creativity. We will spend most of the day in silent reflection so that you can rest deeply in your own being and explore how it is to express from a deeper place within.

Each retreat day will loosely follow a theme focusing on an aspect of embodied experience.

June Retreat: Seeing

July Retreat: Listening

September: Touching

We will explore with our bodies and all of our senses. Through simple meditations we will gather our awareness to be fully present in our bodies, listening for the impulse to express through words, movement, touch and simple image making.

We will meet with our circle of women in a gorgeous yurt set in beautiful farmland with far reaching views. We will spend time outdoors as weather permits… less if it’s raining and more if the sun shines. So please come prepared for both; weather proof boots and rain gear for wet and sturdy footwear for walking, hat and sunscreen for sun. You will get full details of the venue and what to bring when you book.
